‘The Grand Tour' of the 17th century was a journey through Europe by English Aristocrats & wealthy young people in pursuit of a cultural education In Art & architecture .
These ‘grand tourists’ visited Paris, Rome, Venice & Florence Collecting paintings, antiquities & textiles along the way.
‘Spanish Steps’ is inspired by 17th-century embroidery in the Keats-Shelley house at the Spanish steps in Rome
‘Keats room’ is an imagined textile from the English romantic poet Keats bedroom in Rome
‘Fiesole’ a classical leaf motif often found in Renaissance painting
‘The Grand Tour’ features jardinières from an imaginary Palazzo garden in Venice
